Greetings! We hope this newsletter finds you well and you are enjoying the summer. This issue features our 4th Annual Conference to be held on September 15th, 2006 at the New Rochelle Radisson. We expect this conference to be our best ever. You won't want to miss it! Best regards,
We
are excited to announce the ADFP's 4th Annual Conference:
"Anti-Aging Baby Boomers and Divorce".
Baby Boomers are going to live longer and maintain more active lives than any generation before them. They will also be faced with many new challenges such as the disappearance of traditional pension plans, the probable restructuring of Social Security, increasing health costs, supporting elderly parents and estate planning issues associated with blended and extended families to name just a few. Our conference will address many of these issues as they relate to divorce, which further complicates an already challenging future. Don't miss this opportunity to learn about important divorce financial issues, network with colleagues and have a fantastic day away from the office! Conference Details
Special offer for non-members: Submit a membership application with your paid registration and receive a free membership to the ADFP for the remainder of 2006! Membership includes a free posting on our popular web site. For more information and to register for the conference, contact Kristen Donaldson at 203-264-1104 or adfp@charter.net.
We
are pleased to announce that ADFP members and attendees at this year’s
ADFP annual conference will be eligible to receive a $25 discount at
this year’s MatLaw Ultimate Update CLE course, offered at several
locations throughout New York State this fall.
This annual review of case law from the previous year is, in our opinion, the best program of its type that is offered in the State of New York and is an absolute must for divorce professionals involved in New York case work. As an added bonus, the ADFP has been approved for four continuing education credits for CFP’s and CDFA™’s for this program. More information about Ultimate Update can be found at www.matlaw.com. You may also contact Jackie Luciano at jluciano@matlaw.com with any questions. While you are at it, tell her you would also like to sign up for their free MatAlert newsletter!
In
our effort to constantly improve the benefits we offer to our members,
the ADFP Board of Directors has approved the development of local
chapters. Efforts have begun in Massachusetts by Gabrielle Clemens, on
Long Island by Carl Palatnik, in Connecticut by Lili Vasileff and Bill
Donaldson and in New York City/Westchester and Rockland by Sam Schecter
and Lauren Prince.
These local chapters will provide to our members an opportunity to network with colleagues on a more regular basis, decrease their travel time and allow for the flexibility to develop programs that meet the needs of the particular chapter. If you are interested in assisting with the establishment of a local chapter, please contact the board member from your state or region mentioned above. Their contact information can be found on our web site at www.divorceandfinance.org.
One
of the benefits of attending ADFP meetings is to acquire continuing
education credits toward your CFP requirements. If you have attended
ADFP events prior to 1/1/2006, you must self-report these credits
on-line.
Following are the instructions for on-line reporting:
Listed below are approved ADFP programs from 2004-2006:
Good News! As of 1/1/2006, we will submit attendance lists of our programs electronically to the CFP Board, so you will no longer need to self-report CEU's. Should you have any questions about obtaining CEU's from our events, please contact Ida Epstein at 516-785-2216 or email idae@aol.com. For questions regarding your specific CFP requirements, you may contact the CFP Board of Standards at 800-487-1497.
