The Third Annual Conference is a Hit!

ADFP 3rd Annual ConferenceThe ADFP held its third annual conference on September 16, 2005 at the Radisson Hotel in New Rochelle, NY entitled “Intricate Financial Issues in Divorce”. This is our signature event and is as an occasion for providing education, networking opportunities and practice management tips to financial and divorce related professionals. Evaluations were overwhelmingly positive from a record breaking attendance of 75 participants, with many signing up as first time ADFP members. Attendees represented a diverse group of professionals, including financial planners, attorneys, mediators, therapists and accountants.

Special thanks to our thirteen corporate sponsors:

American Skandia, ATEL, Nassau Academy of Law of the Nassau County Bar Association, Connecticut Mediation, Divorce Magazine, Family Law Software, IPI Skyscraper Mortgage, Oppenheimer Funds, Petroleum Development Corporation, Phillips Nizer, RosenfarbWinters, Thomson-West, Transamerica, US Allianz Investor Services

Continuing Education Credits Provided:

  • CDFA™ credits - 6.0

The ADFP now represents members in NY, CT, NJ and MA. We are the largest national not for profit organization for professionals in the field of divorce financial planning. This year, the ADFP has chosen as its focus to strengthen our educational outreach, develop marketing strategies for our members and increase our public relations efforts. Our goal is to constantly enhance the benefits we provide for our members.

New member benefits:

  • A group listserv for all members to exchange practice issues and create a forum for professional discussion.
  • We have created a colorful, descriptive brochure for all members to use in promoting the benefits of divorce financial planning to professional colleagues.
  • We have a professional booth for the ADFP for member use with approval by the Board on a case-by-case basis.
  • Our first quarterly electronic newsletter

Our success as an organization is your success. We grow with you and for you. We depend on your active participation and ideas. We will continue to strive for an excellence within our profession in recognition of the unreserved need of the client going through divorce.

We ask for your feedback and ideas with respect to content desired in our upcoming enewsletters.

Struggling With A Case? Have a great idea for us? Join the ADFP Listserv!

One of our enhanced member benefits this year is the ADFP listserv. It's an email forum that allows the entire ADFP membership to communicate questions & ideas, post articles, share cases, post events etc. It's a great way to keep in contact with other members and get quick answers to questions when you need them.

"I recently had a case involving complex retirement benefits for a corporate executive. I posted a question on the listserv and by the end of the day had two responses that answered my question" states ADFP member Bill Donaldson.

Tap into the brains of your fellow ADFP members and save yourself a lot of time and energy!
