Description of Practice:Buena Vista Financial Resources serves clients throughout the Bay Area with the goal of helping clients navigate the financial aspects of divorce. Our commitment is to work closely with clients to provide the knowledge and tools that will allow them to make informed, appropriate decisions based on their unique personal situation, needs and goals. Divorce is difficult, under the best of circumstances, and we are committed to helping clients focus on the future.
Divorce is a difficult time when people may not be at their best or thinking their most clearly, yet decisions must be made that will impact them and their family for many years to come. It is therefore critical that both parties have the information, support and resources they need to make thoughtful, informed financial decisions about the future. Certified Divorce Financial Analysts (CDFAs) are specially trained neutral financial professionals who help the couple evaluate their current financial situation and develop solutions to complex financial problems. They prepare workable budgets, prioritize financial needs, and assess tax consequences of such areas as property division and support options. The ultimate goal for most divorcing couples is to reach a financially equitable settlement that meets the personal needs of the family. A comprehensive analysis, focusing on the short and long-term financial impact of different settlement scenarios, helps clients set realistic expectations and empowers them to make fully informed financial decisions on a level playing field during this difficult time. In reviewing different alternatives over different time frames, from five to 30 years, clients will have a clear understanding of their options, allowing them to make informed decisions in finding an equitable divorce settlement that is in the best interest of the family and their post-divorce life.
Susan Campbell, CFP®, CDFA™ Principal of Buena Vista Financial Resources, is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst and has been a Certified Financial Planner for over 20 years. Specializing in the financial aspects of divorce, she helps clients understand the short and long-term impact of different settlement proposals to determine an equitable settlement that will best meet the needs of the family. She practices throughout the Bay Area and has offices in San Francisco and Santa Rosa.
Ms. Campbell received both her undergraduate degree and a Masters of Science in Financial Services degree from San Diego State University. She received the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation from the College for Financial Planning in 1988 and the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA™) designation from the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts.
