Dan Caine - President & Co-Developer of Family Law Software

The Pre-Conference Institute will be led by Dan Caine, President and co-developer of Family Law Software.

Dan graduated from Yale University, receiving the Louis F. Laun prize in Economics, and Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, in a joint degree program.

After practicing tax law for a year, Dan began working in computer software design.  Dan founded the company that developed TaxCut, which became the #2-selling personal income tax software program nationwide.  TaxCut was purchased by H&R Block and is now marketed as H&R Block's TaxCut.

After working at H&R Block for two years, Dan and his partner Wendell Smith were looking for another situation where their financial and tax background and their proven software development skills could make a real difference in people's lives.

They noticed that divorce was often the largest financial transaction in people's lives, yet people going through divorce frequently made terrible financial decisions.  Dan and Wendell saw an opportunity to contribute to the solution.  From that observation came Family Law Software.

Family Law Software

Because of Family Law Software, the premier divorce financial planning software in the field, it is now possible to create powerful detailed financial projections, including tax consequences, for both parties.

Because all the details are reflected - anticipated salary increases or declines, future sales of real estate, future purchases of new homes, business and real estate revenues, IRA contributions and distributions, support and alimony changes, retirements, and more - Family Law Software reports have powerful credibility with the parties and their attorneys.  The credibility of these reports confers powerful credibility upon the financial advisors who bring them into divorce or separation situations.

About the Pre-Conference Institute

The Pre-Conference Institute will consist of 2 workshops, the first on Strategies and Tools for Handling Fundamental Financial and Tax Matters in Divorce and the second, which will cover more Advanced Topics.

These workshops will, through sample case studies and illustrative examples, provide divorce financial planning practitioners with practical tools for identifying, analyzing, clarifying and resolving critical financial and tax issues in divorce, helping them and the attorneys or mediators and the divorcing parties they represent make smart, practical and informed decisions.  More
details about these workshops can be found here

New York, New York - A Wonderful Town

Here's something additional to think about!  You are, after all, coming to a conference in the Big Apple!  Why not plan on extending your stay?  Many hotels in New York have special weekend rates.  You can probably find a hotel within your budget on Hotels.com.  See a Broadway show on the Great White Way, eat a "real" bagel or hot pastrami sandwich, visit Ground Zero, visit some of the best museums in the world, take a Circle Line Tour of the City, eat at a world class restaurant, visit Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, etc.
